The Difference is "TRUST"

Updated: Aug 1, 2023

"In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion."

Psalms 71:1 KJV

Those who take the time to read my blogs know that I have been praying about making some life-changing decisions. I prayed the below prayer because I was in such mental agony about what to do. I needed to apply for a job or dedicate my time to full-time ministry at Narda Pella Lifestyle Ministries.

Prayer: Lord, while I am on the second part of my road trip in July, pray for me that I will accomplish the desires of my heart...that I may touch the hearts of my loved ones and strangers alike... and while "working", help me to keep listening to know if you are telling me to lay down my secular crown, and take up the one that matters most...your crown of thorns: Your will and not mine. Your way and not mine. Faith and not Fear, Confidence and not doubt. I pray not only for myself... but for all those like myself, who may be halting between two opinions. Help me to know when you open the door you want me to walk through and obey your voice. In the meantime, help me to heed your command to "make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; ..." (Hebrews 12:13-15) Thank you, in Christ's precious name, amen.

"Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah." Psalms 4:4 Be still and know that I am God... Psalms 46:10 KJV

The deadline for applying for the new school year was looming very close and I still had not heard anything concrete. Was it because I was trying to force the issue? I said to the Lord that if He is not quite ready for me to hang up my teacher hat, then give me the school of YOUR desire, the one that you need me to be a teacher missionary. You also said that you would give me the desires of my heart once they are aligned with your will. Give me a school that is within 20-30 minutes, preferably Union Grove Middle, an online teaching job, or a school in Locust Grove, closer to me. Please only allow the one that you have approved for me to reach out. I don't want any of my signals to be crossed so let it be crystal clear.

My daughter was concerned about my seeming delay, but I knew if God directed me, He will sustain me wherever He placed me. I shared my faith with her because I know that this would be a memory that would help to anchor her faith in her future struggles.

I completed my application and uploaded it to the Henry County School District online platform not just because it was my first choice, but because it was where I felt impressed to apply. There was a lot riding on my decision and I prayed to the tune of this Psalm: "But mine eyes are unto thee, O GOD the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute." Psalms 141:8 KJV.

The next morning before 9 am, I heard the phone ring ing while I was preparing breakfast. I was about to ignore it when it rang immediately after that again. I walked back to my office and answered. It was the principal of Union Grove Middle School, Mr. Richards. He asked if I could come in that same day for the interview. All my doubts were swept away in the interview. I was going to be working for a leader who was a Christian and a school that had one of the best academic and behavioral reputations in the county. The LORD offered me my first choice and I took it gladly. I now could rest my head in peace AND also take the next part of my road trip in early July.

God answers prayers, at the right time. If we rush his process we may run ahead of Him, and if we move too slowly, we may never receive His blessings! The difference is TRUST! When You trust God every risk is worth it, even when He is silent, or seemingly slow, He is busy orchestrating all things for our good. Hallelujah!

"Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him:

God is a refuge for us. Selah."

Psalms 62:8 KJV

"Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah."

Psalms 4:4 KJV

Be still and know that I am God...

Psalms 46:10 KJV
