Arise,Shine...

Updated: Apr 11, 2023

Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.

Isaiah 60:1

This morning I woke up smiling! I laughed with glee for no special reason but thanks to God for being so good in my life! I stretched and threw back my covers, got down on my knees, and prayed a prayer of thanksgiving for today's liberation!

As human beings, we tend to self-pity and focus on the negative aspects of tribulation, affliction, or trouble. Don't get me wrong there is plenty of "bitter" to ponder when you feel as if you have been unjustly treated or the pain from the loss of a loved one or from an illness is excruciating. We may ask, "How long Lord, should I suffer?" "Why me?" We may have valid thoughts and feelings about a particular subject, but why not you? Why not me? The Bible states that a man of a few days is full of trouble and sorrow (Job 14:1), but thank God that Christ died to liberate us from the oppression of all sorts of darkness. He was tempted in all points just like us so He can relate to our challenges or sufferings.

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 1, "Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;" The word "blessed" means to make someone extremely happy. How can we make God supremely happy? Do human beings have the capacity to impact the emotions of the God of the universe? Parents understand this better than anyone else. Their lives mirror God's as they have children that are under their care and training. They nurture them to be great citizens of the home and society. They are supremely happy when those children grow up and follow through... their training and nurturing were not in vain. The road of training was not always smooth along the way. There were bumps and bruises...even some hard falls that caused excessive pain, but just like God comforts us in affliction and is supremely happy as we respond to His care, the same is true for the parents of the prodigal son or daughter. Your marriage, business, health, relationship, or finances maybe cause you stress but let God comfort you.

Today, Christ has risen anew in my heart! He didn't stay in His tomb of circumstances, He arose and his Hope and his Joy rejuvenated the world! Therefore let's arise from our situations and celebrate God's goodness in our life now! Wake up from your burdens, self-pity, hopelessness, or pain. Christ is risen and because of His resurrection power, you and I don't have to be a slave to sin, fear, or despair. Christ suffered so that He may comfort us and we are called to do the same so that we may comfort others. Arise, shine, and smile in Satan's face while holding on to God's Grace!

Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.

Isaiah 60:1
