An Introduction to Several Ways that Almonds May Affect Your Physical, Mental, and Spiritual Health
The first time I surrendered my heart to the Lord was when I was around six years old sitting mid-air in my secret seat, high up in a certain place. It afforded me a breathtaking view of the aquamarine, azul-shaded ocean gently blowing its salty breath upon my young upturned face!
I was in heaven sitting in that almond tree looking up into the beautiful sky with playful wisps of clouds drifting in and out of my view. I began daydreaming of Heaven and how wonderful it would be to behold a more beautiful scenery... the face of GOD. It is a daydream that has never left my memory because it was not just a dream but a permanent desire and determination that has transcended whatever ambition, obstacles, pain, and downfalls that have been a part of my constant journey. Despite the pitfalls and failures, ...as an adult, I have found hope "still sitting in the almond tree" of the Word of God. I am glad for its sustenance!
The Bible mentions almonds only a few times,...eight to be exact... but every time they were mentioned, they signified something important. In the following verses, I had a few "take-aways" to impact my life. What do you believe the Lord wants you to take away?
Genesis 43:11 KJV
"And their father Israel said unto them, If it must be so now, do this; take of the best fruits in the land in your vessels, and carry down the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spices, and myrrh, nuts, and almonds:"
Exodus 25:33 KJV
"Three bowls made like unto almonds, with a knop and a flower in one branch; and three bowls made like almonds in the other branch, with a knop and a flower: so in the six branches that come out of the candlestick." Exodus 25:33 KJV
Exodus 25:34 KJV
"And in the candlestick shall be four bowls made like unto almonds, with their knops and their flowers."
Exodus 37:19 KJV
"Three bowls made after the fashion of almonds in one branch, a knop and a flower; and three bowls made like almonds in another branch, a knop and a flower: so throughout the six branches going out of the candlestick."
Exodus 37:20KJV
"And in the candlestick were four bowls made like almonds, his knops, and his flowers:"
Numbers 17:8 KJV
"And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds."
Ecclesiastes 12:5 KJV
"Also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets:"
Jeremiah 1:11 KJV
"Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree."
The Word of God is a fruitful almond tree that is flourishing and nourishing during our driest seasons. It is filled with all the nutrients we need to survive the uncertain and cruel elements that may come to haunt our experiences and journeys in this life! It is a reservoir of promises... a deep well of hope that never runs dry. It is a fountain that rejuvenates our physical, mental, and spiritual health when we are fatigued from the warfare with life, and its demons. Eat and drink it knowing that God is faithful, true, consistent, and good.
"O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him."
